Selectmen to appoint EMD candidate Jeff Haley at next meeting; fire chief offers to serve as deputy

SPRINGFIELD, N.H. — The Board of Selectmen heard from Fire Chief Ian MacMillan on Sept. 23 and agreed to appoint Jeff Haley as the town’s Emergency Management Director at the next Selectboard meeting on Oct. 15.
Ian MacMillan introduced Haley and provided a bio to the Board; Haley described his interest in the role. MacMillan told the Board he would be willing to remain as Deputy EMD to assist with the transition. Zoning Coordinator Tim Bray noted there is a range of training available to support a new EMD.
The Board thanked Haley for volunteering and signaled its intent to make a formal appointment at the Oct. 15 meeting. No formal vote to appoint was taken at the Sept. 23 meeting.
