Thorp council approves narrower street width and reduced sidewalks for 2026 street project

Council members voted to approve the 37-foot street width. They approved sidewalks on the north side of E. School (except the first commercial block, which will retain sidewalks on both sides), kept sidewalks on the east side of N. Clark Street, and eliminated sidewalks on the first and second blocks of N. Thorp Street. The motion (Rosemeyer, Einhorn) passed 5-0.
Engineers and staff will proceed with design and bidding consistent with the council’s direction; affected property owners and residents previously attended an informational meeting.
Next steps: staff to incorporate the council’s width and sidewalk decisions into final project plans and contact affected property owners.
