Superintendent Cole told the board the district will attempt to include newly authorized state salary increases in July paychecks, saying staff have been directed to prepare local budget estimates and an action item for the committee meeting in a few weeks.
"Our goal is to try to have a number for you or some kind of action item that you can approve at the committee meeting in a couple of weeks that will allow us to pay our people their salary raise in their July check," Cole said. He cautioned that the state has not yet provided salary-code information and that the district cannot produce a firm local cost until that detail arrives.
Board members and Miss Moffett discussed the recently passed state budget and described large starting-teacher pay increases in the enacted bill. Finance-related speakers summarized that raises and bonuses are planned but that exact percentages and bonus amounts will be finalized once state guidance is published; district staff said they would aim for the earliest feasible payroll implementation while acknowledging a worst-case timeline of paying raises retroactively in August.
No formal board action occurred on payroll at the meeting; Cole said staff will return with numbers and a proposed action item for board consideration at the next committee meeting.
