Sewer flows, water pumpage and dam repairs reported; DNR lead-and-copper testing due

Commissioners received departmental reports on sewer, water and public-works operations and a director’s update on a completed dam repair at the May 27 meeting.
Sewer staff reported an average flow last month of 1.9 million gallons per day (MGD). Routine seasonal work has begun, including mowing and annual sewer cleaning/jetting; staff are cleaning lift stations and removing grease, and they reported hauling a total of 48 quad loads of sludge to farmers this spring.
Water staff reported a May average daily pumpage of about 1,000,000 gallons per day, and that Well 14 returned to service on May 4. Daily nitrate tests averaged 6.90. Staff are compiling a list of lead-and-copper testing sites to meet a Department of Natural Resources requirement that the test be completed every three years; commission minutes state this is a DNR requirement.
Public Works staff said the library project work (concrete, mulch and seeding) is complete, and they continue crack sealing, hot-mix patching and street sweeping; Parks & Rec collaborated on installing a boat dock at Butts Park.
Director Brandy Leis reported the municipal dam is completely finished after repairs following a lightning strike 1½ years ago; a budget amendment will be sent to the Committee of the Whole and Common Council.
The commission scheduled its next meeting for June 24, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
