The Town of Townsend board agreed to sign an American Red Cross facility agreement and the pet addendum allowing the town hall to serve as an emergency shelter when needed; the Red Cross will provide shelter staff, food, cots and counselors and would cover building damage related to shelter operations.
Kathleen Marsh of the Lakes Country Library reported that the library is updating bylaws, that Hoffmann holds the snow-removal contract, and that the library is test-running a new circulation system through the Nicolet Federated Library System; she also noted a $1,000 donation from the Bartel charity golf tournament and previewed upcoming speaker events in January and February.
The board also heard about NOAH’s Ark (No. Oconto County Animal Help), a service that will capture, spay/neuter, and either shelter or facilitate adoption of feral and stray cats in the area.
Public comment included a request from Chief Dawn Herlache for assistance identifying an IT contact to help the town with basic technical questions; suggestions included local school IT staff and private contacts.
