Town clarifies Class B liquor licenses and approves two operator licenses

The Town of Townsend board on Jan. 13 recorded background information about the town's Class B liquor licenses and approved two operator licenses.
Clerk Linda Ziegler told the board the town is authorized to issue ten Class B liquor licenses; historical changes — including a reserve license granted Aug. 17, 2006, business transfers and surrenders, and fires and demolitions — left available licenses that the town can reissue. Ziegler said she confirmed with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue that licenses are not permanently tied to a premises once surrendered or nonrenewed, and that the Town of Townsend has transferred one Class B license to the Old Town Hall, leaving two regular Class B and one reserve Class B license available.
On permits the board approved two operator licenses: VanderPlas (motion by Chairperson Monica Zeller, second by Willie Evans) and Pankow (motion by Chuck DeMoulin, second by Willie Evans). Those motions were adopted and recorded in the minutes.
