Johnstown council clears slate of routine motions, appoints deputy clerk

At its Jan. 21 business meeting, the Johnstown Common Council approved a series of routine resolutions and appointments, and handled bonding and vehicle bid items.
The council approved the Dec. 16, 2024 meeting minutes (motion by Council Member Scott Miller); approved claims and accounts (motion by Council Member Eric Parker); and approved administrative items including council hours, designation of banks, landfill fees, official newspaper, polling places, council rules and regulations, cleaning services, commissioners of deeds, joint sewer board participation, planning services with Fulton County, and board of assessment review appointments. Most motions passed unanimously as recorded in the minutes.
Mayoral appointment: Mayor Amy Praught nominated a Deputy City Clerk; Council Member Max Spritzer moved the appointment and the council approved it unanimously.
Procurement actions: The council moved to reject a bid related to a 2018 Dodge Charger and approved acceptance of another bid for a 2018 Dodge Charger; those motions carried as recorded in the minutes.
Administrative notes: The minutes state no water grievances were filed. Mayor Praught thanked the Fire Department and Department of Public Works for preparing the ice skating rink, which she said should open by the weekend. The council did not enter executive session and adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
