Johnstown council swears in Ward 2 member, adopts routine organizational resolutions

Johnstown — The Johnstown Common Council convened its organizational meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Jan. 1 in Council Chambers, swearing in newly elected Ward 2 Councilmember Vincent McCallum and adopting a slate of routine organizational resolutions before adjourning at 12:08 p.m.
Mayor Amy Praught welcomed newly elected Councilmember Vincent McCallum and thanked him for his service to the city, and she commended the council for its service and hard work. The clerk recorded attendance showing Mayor Praught and councilmembers Bradley Hayner (Ward 1), Vincent McCallum (Ward 2), Eric Parker (Ward 3) and Max Spritzer (Ward 4) present; Councilmember-at-Large Scott Jeffers and City Attorney Michael M. Albanese were excused.
The council approved seven standard organizational items. Motions passed unanimously among those present (4 ayes, 0 noes, 0 abstentions) with Jeffers recorded as absent for each vote. The adopted items included establishment of council hours; designation of the city’s official depository banks; confirmation of landfill fee settings; designation of the official city newspaper for public notices; designation of polling places; adoption of the Common Council Rules and Regulations; and appointments to city offices.
