At the May 15 meeting of the Johnstown Zoning Board of Appeals, Fire Chief Larry O’Regan said an application may be presented in June seeking to use an accessory structure as a rental unit on a property. O’Regan explained that under the city’s current zoning code, accessory structures may be used as dwellings only when the property is owner-occupied; that restriction is the reason the prospective application would be referred to the ZBA for review.
The board did not take action on the matter at the May meeting; O’Regan’s remark served as a notification to the board and public that the question will likely appear on the June agenda. No ordinance text or proposed code language changes were discussed during the May 15 meeting.
The board adjourned at 4:03 p.m.
