Simsbury recreation: pool memberships rise, camps lag; big turnout for Touch A Truck

Director Tom Tyburski said the week of the meeting is the busiest of the season and the department has sold 61 more pool memberships than at the same point last year. He also said enrichment camps were about 70 enrollments lower than last year, while community gardens leasing had increased and a new weekend rugby program attracted a good turnout.
Tyburski summarized two recent events: the Last Day of School Funfest drew about 265 children, and the Annual Simsbury Farms Touch A Truck event had an estimated 2,300 attendees; Goodard School and Hartford Healthcare participated as new community partners. He also outlined facility updates: dog-waste stations have been installed, Friends of Simsbury Farms-funded bike racks are being installed, bids are being prepared for a cart-path and drainage project, and speed bumps were added to address stop-sign compliance.
Tyburski asked for volunteers for an ice cream social and community band concert scheduled for July 1.
