Simsbury Farms Golf posts higher revenues but faces costly green repairs

Pro shop manager Mr. Verrengia told the Culture, Parks and Recreation Commission that year-to-date golf revenues are roughly $100,000 higher than the same period last year and that season-pass sales have been strong. He said single golfers can book tee times only by joining existing groups.
Golf maintenance superintendent Mr. Johnson said a wet, cool spring hampered grass growth and showed photos of ice damage to greens No. 1, 4 and 14. Director Tom Tyburski told the commission the estimate to fix a design and drainage issue on the No. 2 green exceeded $100,000, so staff attempted in-house turf repairs this spring rather than immediately proceeding with an outside contract: “it would be $100k+,” Tyburski said.
Commissioners heard timelines for damage recovery but did not vote on capital funding. Staff said they are preparing bids for other drainage and cart-path work separately and will return with cost estimates if outside construction is required.
