At its May 6 meeting, Hillsborough County commissioners presented the 2026 Ellsworth Simmons Good Government Award to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and declared May 6 the 20th annual Delta Day honoring the Tampa chapters of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, county communications staff said.
Katie, a Hillsborough County communications and digital media staff member, said Sheriff Chronister was recognized for 34 years of public service and that the award citation noted his emphasis on accountability, operational excellence and community partnerships. Katie also said the board issued a proclamation honoring Delta Sigma Theta for its cultural, educational and service-oriented work.
