Meselovsky Middle School recommends Edgems online math resource; board to vote next meeting

Teachers from Meselovsky Middle School presented a proposal to adopt the Edgems online math resource for the coming school year; the educational programming committee recommended the board permit the school to implement the resource and indicated a formal vote will be on the next meeting's agenda.

Committee members said the resource is not consumable textbook material — teachers access materials online and print what they need, and students access supplemental videos and materials through Google Classroom. The committee reported that teachers have used the resource throughout the current year and judged it the best of three options considered.

The committee highlighted instructional benefits and local pilots, including an in-school suspension pilot to reduce lost instructional time and other school-improvement work in year two of a three-year cycle. A committee representative summarized the resource's role as supplemental: "This is just supplementing what they are teaching, via worksheets and challenges and progressions of stuff like that." The board was told a vote giving permission to adopt the resource is expected at the next meeting.

The committee also noted that this recommendation applies only to Meselovsky Middle School; China Middle School will continue using its existing resource.
