Commission approves $950 concrete cap to secure an existing well

The Ware Conservation Commission approved a contract not to exceed $950 to have a contractor install a reinforced concrete cap over an existing field well, citing public‑safety and land‑management concerns.
"I motion that Andy signs the agreement with Genstone, to supply and install, reinforced concrete cover over an existing well, with a total labor and material cost of not to exceed $950 out of the conservation fund," said Mike Camacho, who made the motion. Ray LeMay seconded the motion.
Commissioners discussed obtaining an insurance certificate from the contractor before work begins. Ray LeMay recused himself from voting on procedural grounds and one commissioner abstained; the clerk recorded that Ray, Andy and Mike voted in favor and Steve Nager abstained.
The contract was described to include materials, labor and equipment. Commissioners agreed to have staff request the contractor's insurance binder and then proceed to execute the work promptly to address the safety hazard.
The commission recorded the motion, second and vote on the record and concluded the item with instructions for staff to obtain the insurance certificate.
