The chair reviewed the trifold, saying it includes basic steps for starting a business and suggested adding the county office of economic development contact information to the back so residents know who is providing the document. “I think this looks great,” the chair said. Members suggested only minor edits and discussed distribution: an initial print run of roughly 100–150 copies and placing some copies at the county office of opportunity.
Commission members asked staff to collect printing quotes. The commission agreed quotes could be circulated between now and the next meeting so members could review them in advance, but members noted that formal approval will need to occur at a public meeting. One member asked permission to use Minuteman for the order; another commissioner announced a recusal, saying Minuteman is a client. The staff member present explained that purchases under $5,000 can be processed administratively if a commissioner abstains and that the administrative alternative could be used where appropriate.
No formal vote on award or printing vendor was recorded; members said they would review quotes at the next meeting and proceed with an award following public process.
