RSU 18 approves staff nominations, sets 2026-27 meeting dates; superintendent reports retiree and literacy institute

A board member asked whether contracts had already been issued for the candidates; the superintendent confirmed contracts had been issued and the board recorded the approvals.
Calendar: the board discussed July and August scheduling and agreed tentatively on July 22 and Aug. 5 as meeting dates, with flexibility for an additional August meeting if needed. Members also discussed moving start times earlier by 15 minutes for some meetings and asked staff to confirm availability before finalizing times.
Superintendent report: the superintendent thanked teachers and staff for end-of-year activities and highlighted ongoing hiring, maintenance work and a forthcoming literacy institute featuring nationally known facilitator Chris Tavani; roughly 30 staff are expected to participate. The superintendent also shared that long-time custodian Victor Reboise passed away and the board read a prepared tribute acknowledging his service. The board noted it planned a small recognition and plaque for Chief Tracy at the meeting's end.
Follow-ups requested by board members included: an annual report on administrative evaluations, job descriptions and evaluation methods for newly created positions (Dean of Students at the middle school), and scheduling superintendent goals and graduation-ceremony discussion in upcoming meetings.
