Reinbeck council cancels TIF rebate for Progress Drive parcel and approves routine resolutions and administrative items

At its May 4 meeting the Reinbeck City Council approved several administrative and financial items.
The council adopted Resolution #2026-13R authorizing transfers to pay upcoming obligations; Johnson moved for approval, Trepp seconded, and the roll-call vote was unanimous. The council also adopted Resolution #2026-14R establishing fees for mobile food vending units; the motion by Wambold and second by Pease carried on a roll-call vote.
The council discussed a TIF re-batement at 101 Progress Drive and, because the property changed hands, voted to cancel the rebate rather than extend it to a new owner. Johnson moved to cancel the TIF re-batement; Pease seconded and the motion passed on roll-call.
Administrative actions approved by unanimous vote included acceptance of Tina Lyon’s resignation from the Library Board effective May 11, 2026; approval to certify two unpaid-utility accounts as liens to be filed with the County Treasurer (the council directed the clerk to file the liens); and placement of three 'No Parking' signs on the north side of School Street between Broad and Center to improve traffic flow. Council also requested that water shutoffs be fixed and assessed to property owners when appropriate.
On capital planning, council agreed to add curb and gutter work on Main Street to the CIP and requested council members submit grading priorities to the city administrator to move the project forward. Updates included parks work (Lions Club replacing pavilion screens), Corteva assisting at Elmwood Park next week, inspection of the Southridge detention pond and continued ditch spraying near the high school baseball field.
The meeting minutes record motions and roll-call votes but do not include financial figures for the TIF rebate amount or projected revenue impacts of the resolutions.
