The Reinbeck City Council on May 4 approved a series of event-related street closures for the summer calendar.
The Farmers Market was granted its usual seasonal closure of Broad Street from Highway 175 to Main Street from June 1 through October. Council Member Pease moved to approve the closure; Bueghly seconded the motion and it passed 5–0.
The 4th of July Committee, represented by Greg Snider, said the parade route will remain the same but fireworks staging has to shift because of construction. Park Street will be closed from Folkert’s driveway to V Avenue for fireworks staging. Council Member Bueghly moved to approve the parade and fireworks street closings; Trepp seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The mayor suggested using county barricades for the Park Street closing.
The council also approved RAGBRAI street closures for July 23: West Street from Highway 175 to Main Street, Main Street from West Street to Broad Street, Broad Street from Main Street to Highway 175, and additional West and Clark Street closures to accommodate adaptive riders. Johnson moved to approve the RAGBRAI-related closures; Pease seconded and the motion carried 5–0.
The decisions include routing and temporary public-right-of-way restrictions the city will enforce on the specified dates; the meeting minutes do not record permit fees or closure hours.
