Shell Lake council approves community permits, accepts donated art and handles routine business

The Shell Lake City Council handled a slate of routine administrative and community items at its July 14, 2025 meeting.
Under Parks and Recreation, the council accepted a donated artwork and approved the recommended placement in Shell Lake Memorial Park; the estimated cost to place the structure was listed at approximately $1,200. Mayor Rowie Hansberger and Terry Severson noted the placement recommendation and Hansberger said the matter must go to the Plan Commission for formal review and recommendation.
In financial business, Council member Stephen Smith moved, seconded by Steve Byrd, to approve vouchers numbered 630–821; the motion carried unanimously. Smith also presented the budget status report; the transcript does not include line-item budget details.
In new business, the council approved a Request for Approval of Agreement for Transfer of 2021 Entitlement (the motion passed unanimously; the minutes list no further detail about the entitlement or its recipient). Mayor Hansberger reminded the public of the July 20 Second Annual Great Shell Lake Get Together and the July 26 triathlon and asked for volunteers. Council member Stephen Smith made a public statement apologizing for what he described as rude behavior at the end of a recent Lake Protection Board meeting; Mayor Hansberger said such conduct affects the council and that poor behavior will not be tolerated.
