The Reinbeck City Council opened a public hearing April 6 on a proposed property tax levy and closed it after City Administrator Julie Wilkerson presented updated levy figures, the council’s minutes show.
Julie Wilkerson, the city administrator, told the council the current certified property tax levy is $12.10487. She said if the city kept its budget the same the levy would drop to $11.87046, but "due to employee wages and benefit increases as well as insurance increases, the levy rate will be $12.10245." Mayor Jamie Eiffler opened the hearing at 5:00 p.m.
Hearing no written or oral comments from the public, Councilmember Johnson moved to close the hearing; Councilmember Trepp seconded. The motion carried with four ayes. The minutes record the hearing was closed at 5:05 p.m.
After closing the hearing, Councilmember Bueghly moved to adjourn the special meeting and Councilmember Wambold seconded; that motion also carried with four ayes and the meeting was adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
The document filed with the minutes notes these are the minutes of the special property tax levy meeting and will be approved by the council at the next regular meeting.
