Reinbeck sets bid opening and public hearing for Center Street reconstruction

City staff described the project scope as including lowering water mains, replacing curb and gutter, installing storm sewer intakes and resurfacing the roadway with asphalt between Cedar Street and School Street. The project will require finalized plans and contract documents before bids are accepted; the council’s action initiates the formal procurement timetable.
The council authorized the public hearing and bid schedule to allow interested contractors to prepare proposals and to provide the public an opportunity to comment before the council considers contract award at a subsequent meeting. The April 6 hearing will include presentation of final plans, the engineer’s cost estimate and an opportunity for public comment before award action.
