The Reinbeck City Council opened a public hearing at 6:03 p.m. on March 2 to consider adding Chapter 124 to the municipal code to regulate mobile food service vendors. The council discussed vendor fees and recorded that any specific fee will be adopted later by resolution after the ordinance is in place.
Mayor Jamie Eiffler introduced Ordinance #2026-03OR, "An Ordinance Adding the Provisions for Chapter 124 Mobile Food Service Vendors." Councilmember Trepp moved that the ordinance be given its first consideration; Councilmember Wambold seconded the motion, which carried with five ayes. Councilmember Johnson then moved to set the ordinance’s second reading for April 6, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.; Councilmember Trepp seconded and the motion passed 5–0.
No fee amount or operational detail was finalized at the March hearing. City staff indicated that the council will adopt vendor fees by resolution following ordinance adoption. The council’s April meeting will include the second reading and any additional public comment before final action.
Ordinance #2026-03OR is now scheduled for its second reading on April 6, 2026; the council’s subsequent action will determine whether fees and enforcement provisions are added and when the rules would take effect.
