Emergency Management: River rises to 15.05 feet; sandbagging to continue at Ellington Fire Department

Emergency officials reported Friday that the river had risen to 15.05 feet as of about noon and urged residents to remain alert as storms were expected later in the day.
A staff member providing the briefing said the Board had met with Emergency Management, law enforcement, the fire department, public works and Tom Nelson and that “the river has gone up to 15.05’ last checked about noon.” The update said traffic in the village had improved and that sandbagging operations would continue both Friday and Saturday at the Ellington Fire Department.
The sheriff's department said it had brought additional resources to the area, “including more personnel and a generator,” to support response and protection of critical infrastructure. Emergency Management warned that rain was expected around 5 p.m. and that more severe weather could arrive closer to 6:30 p.m., saying, “rain will be here about 5pm and the severe weather may be closer to 6:30.”
Officials also posted that WE Energies had no plans at that time to shut power off, but cautioned that storm-related outages could change that status. The briefing concluded by saying the next public update would be at 9 a.m. Saturday.
