District leaders presented curriculum and program updates at the July 28 Shawano School District board meeting and the board approved multiple instructional items for 2025–26.
Aaron Manders, Hillcrest and LEADS principal, presented an Achievement Gap Reduction (AGR) application and report covering Hillcrest K–2 and Olga Brener grade 3; the packet contained the application and program description. Aggie Engel, an English Language Development teacher, then explained updated ELD standards and outlined how the district will implement the changes in classrooms.
Elisha Wagenson presented a cost proposal and recommendation to adopt new world language textbooks. The board approved adopting the textbooks from Vista Higher Learning. Wagenson also presented the annual student academic standards requirement; the board approved the 2025–2026 academic standards as presented. The board accepted the annual LEADS Primary Charter School report as well.
The board directed administration to provide written expectations for the FBLA advisor position after approving an increase in the advisor stipend, and requested an annual report describing the position’s work.
These approvals and presentations are intended to support instruction as the district finalizes its plans for the coming school year; student schedules are due to be released Aug. 14, 2025.
