The Open Space Committee received an update on the BWALT (Beewalt/Boston–Worcester airline route) feasibility study. Chair John Campbell said Lori Connors (planning) applied for and was awarded a grant to study sections in Northborough, and that Westborough has advanced its portion of the study.
Committee members discussed the mixed-surface nature of the proposed corridor: some segments are intended to be paved, others stone dust, and other sections would remain natural surface. Brian (vice chair) said he believes sections near the aqueduct are likely to remain stone dust rather than paved. Members requested maps and supporting materials be collected and posted to the shared Dropbox so new members can review the proposed routes and the committee can coordinate with Trails and Planning committees.
There was no motion or vote on the feasibility study itself; staff and members agreed to keep Lori Connors involved and to invite her or Westborough representatives to a future meeting if needed.
