Adams County’s Public Safety & Justice committee spent the remainder of its July meeting reviewing monthly reports from county departments and hearing brief operational updates.
The child support representative reported strong performance for June, praised a new specialist on staff and said interviews are scheduled next week for an administrative support specialist shared with Health & Human Services: "We have asked ... to set up interviews for 8 people," the representative said, noting 19 total applications.
The medical examiner introduced Crystal Norling, who moved from an on-call deputy role into a part-time position. The office said it is recruiting additional on-call staff to ease on-call duties.
The emergency manager described ongoing work processing disaster-related applications (flooding, storm responses) and clarified county responsibilities at communications sites: the county owns the buildings and internal equipment at two tower sites (Highway F and Highway K) and manages generator and equipment maintenance, while several towers and sites are owned by carriers such as UScellular (now Array Digital Infrastructure).
The sheriff’s representative highlighted community outreach events, including participation in Meals on Wheels, a medication take-back effort and the upcoming National Night Out event at the Fairgrounds on July 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. He also mentioned a Culver’s event supporting the Police Lights at Christmas program.
The committee set its next meeting for August 12 at 03:00 and adjourned at 03:13.
