Stacy Belcastro of Public Works explained the bridge is load‑restricted because of deterioration and scour; the grant will fund engineering to evaluate replacement and rehabilitation options and position the city to pursue construction funding for the preferred alternative. Belcastro said the city’s required local match is $168,000 and recommended council authorize the public‑works director to sign the ODOT agreement accepting the funds.
A council motion to adopt the resolution authorizing execution of the agreement passed on voice vote. Staff said preliminary engineering results will inform future funding applications and that the project will improve pedestrian and bicycle access and address structural restrictions to heavier vehicles.
Next steps: the public‑works director will execute the ODOT agreement and staff will return with preliminary‑engineering findings and funding options for construction.
