Cecilton reviews water-treatment report; mayor asks for per-gallon cost estimate

Jordan Smith and Heather Perry presented the Town of Cecilton’s water-treatment plant and water-supply report at the April 20 council meeting, saying monthly maintenance was performed and both plants were in compliance for the month.
Mayor Michael Cooper asked Smith to calculate how much it costs the town to treat a gallon of water. Council members also discussed the fire department’s practice of filling pools at the station: the town currently does not charge the department but agreed it needs to track the department’s usage and consider the cost of treated water when filling pools.
No funding or policy change was adopted during the discussion; the council asked staff to return with a per-gallon cost estimate and to propose a tracking approach for department water use.
