Chesapeake City reviews routine contracts due to renew this summer

Town staff presented contract packets for three recurring services and told the council the agreements are scheduled to renew this summer.
A copy of the 2024–25 State Police contract was distributed; the minutes state it is set to renew July 1 and that the hourly rate has been $125 for several years and is not expected to change. Town staff said they will contact Sgt. Mingle to follow up on the renewal.
The council also reviewed the Corey Sanitation Solutions contract, which is scheduled to renew July 1. Town records indicate Corey has been provided a copy and does not expect major changes; the minutes note the third‑year contract price is contained in the original agreement and that staff (Rob Bernstine) will close the loop with Corey.
The Artesian Water contract packet was also shared; the agreement is listed to renew Aug. 1. Staff indicated they do not expect significant changes and will reach out to Artesian Water to confirm details.
No formal vote or change to contract terms was taken at the workshop. Council members asked staff to complete follow-up contact with the named providers and to report back if any substantive changes are proposed.
