The City of Cambridge Traffic & Safety Committee received project updates on multiple local safety treatments and recorded public concern about a nearby development.
Staff said demonstration timelines have shifted back to a spring–summer schedule. Brian Hermann, Planning Director, provided status updates on proposed traffic circles at Wells, Douglas, Cornish Park and Meteor Avenue, and reported the Academy Street / Muir Street project has a target start window of March–April.
On Leonards Lane, staff reviewed a proposal for concrete bulb‑outs and a speed table near the Boys & Girls Club and solicited committee feedback on design and next steps. At the Locust/Willis (Minty’s) intersection, staff described plans for new crosswalks and implementation of an all‑way stop.
During public comment a High Street resident raised specific concerns about the Snappers development, citing "speeding, additional traffic, noisier b/c of street texture" and asked whether concrete barriers between the county parking lot and Snappers could be removed and whether enforcement or cameras were an option. Minutes direct those concerns to R/UDAT, the Neighborhood Revitalization Plan and the Comprehensive Plans for follow‑up.
Committee action items included updating the project timeline and demonstration‑project list for council consideration and returning with more detailed implementation schedules; no formal votes were taken.
