Nikki, reporting for the Events Center, said packet balances were $1,074,004.84 and staff recorded 11 events in the last 30 days with a little over 1,800 attendees. "We had the Saline County Comic Expo, around 1,000 people," Nikki said, and she noted other events including a Circle K regional meeting and the Saline County Gun and Night Show. Nikki also noted recent transfers to the BEC savings account.
Rachel presented marketing results, saying 38 restaurants participated in Restaurant Week, the landing page received 5,805 views in two weeks, and social posts reached about 34,709 people. "We gained over 400 new followers on our pages," Rachel said, adding the page is approaching 3,100 followers with a year-end goal of 5,000.
The commission also heard an announcement that Buckey's will hold a grand opening at Exit 114 on Monday, Aug. 17, with the parking lot opening at midnight, the store opening at 6 a.m. and a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. The Chair said the event will bring publicity to Benton.
Commissioners thanked staff for the work on events and promotions; no formal action was taken on these reports.
