Town staff updated the council Jan. 20 on progress toward a residential parking permit program and said a consultant-conducted parking survey will be published on the town website the next day.
Interim Town Administrator Bagley described the multi‑phase process: Phase 2 (January–February) focuses on data collection, analysis and community education; March will be used to explore options and solicit resident feedback; April and May will be used to work with an appointed parking committee to identify a preferred approach so the council can make a decision before the fiscal year ends. The mailed information package to every household will include a visual estimate of off‑street parking spaces that residents may accept or dispute; residents without online access can request an in‑person measurement.
Bagley also asked residents to express interest in serving on a parking committee; the council said it will mail notices and include information in the newsletter. The council asked a number of clarifying questions and staff said the letter and schedule had been vetted at a work session.
What happens next: the town will publish the consultant survey, mail informational packages to all households, accept committee applications and proceed through the planned phases with dates targeted for community feedback and a council decision in spring.
