The Calvert County Police Accountability Board voted to approve its annual report for presentation to the Board of County Commissioners in January, approving a requested slide addition that explains the external contractor review. Chair said the presentation will be submitted for the commissioners' process after the slide is added and circulated to the board.
Board members made the motion, and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote without recorded dissents. The report will include a brief explanation of the statewide contractor review (discussed by members as PERF) so commissioners and the public have context.
Sheriff Cox delivered a third‑quarter status update, highlighting community outreach and policing activity. Among figures he presented: calls for service of 25,415 during the quarter; nearly 1,500 traffic citations; and 443 traffic accidents. He described ongoing efforts around school‑start safety, DARE and juvenile programming, extra holiday patrols and checkpoints, and jail programming including alternatives such as drug court. Sheriff Cox also noted capital projects for detention infrastructure remain constrained by funding and that an infrastructure improvement was pushed to 2028.
On several procedural items the board deferred substantive recommendations until they could be revised in light of Wayne Silver’s guidance on the ACC/PAB roles and reporting formats. The meeting closed after public comment and a motion to adjourn.
