Committee discusses QR codes, fundraising and merchandise for Veterans Park

After resolving the material for the Vietnam memorial, the committee turned to interpretation and fundraising. Michael Harmon identified options for QR codes and what hosting would require; members agreed the town and historical commission should review any content before codes are installed.
Harmon told the committee that QR codes could link to written material or to spoken-word audio and noted there are cost and hosting implications: "...it's a whole different thing. And then you're gonna have to figure out ... the recordings and all those type of different things, and there's gonna be cost associated with that." He suggested the historical commission and town website could house the content and that the committee should decide whether to include audio or keep it as written text.
Members also discussed fundraising approaches. Brian and other nonprofit participants reviewed the success of the June 6 rededication event and proposed future fundraisers, merchandise sales and tabling at Chamber events. The Chair suggested merchandise such as shirts and said he had discussed production with a local screen-printer who is willing to help. John Fuller recommended coordinating with the Chamber of Commerce for community events and outreach.
The committee agreed QR codes and interpretive content logistics will be a future agenda item and that volunteers and staff will coordinate with the 501(c)(3) partner and the historical commission on content and hosting.
Next steps: add QR-code/interpretation to a future agenda, inventory hosting options (town website vs. third-party), and develop a fundraising plan ahead of Veterans Day.
