Trustees praise circulation staff; Friends report posts $75,800 net income year-to-date

The Snow Library meeting on July 7 included a staff spotlight on circulation work and a financial report from the Friends of the Library.
"I've had the very good fortune to be working in the full time position at the circulation desk for the past 20 years," Jenny Folcher told trustees, describing tasks such as checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, processing holds and tracking missing items. She recounted examples of daily patron assistance and thanked volunteers who help with shelving and special projects.
Trustees offered specific praise for staff service, noting that patrons from neighboring towns prefer Snow Library and that staff often provide help beyond typical duties. One trustee recounted Jenny calling a guardian when a middle-school child arrived without a ride, describing the library as a safe place.
Tracy reported financial results for the Friends of the Library: "Our gross profit year to date was about a $108,800," and "our year to date net income was about $75,800," she said, adding that contributions to the library totaled about $43,500 and operating expenses about $26,900. Tracy also noted that contactless payments at book sales worked well and that a June 27 all-day sale raised more than $1,000.
On outreach, Tracy said the Little Free Library at Skagit Beach has been repaired and repainted and that another unit at Nauset Beach is maintained seasonally. The Friends plan to sponsor one more Little Free Library to be placed on the library’s front lawn near the bus stop.
The meeting also covered routine administrative items and scheduling changes; trustees agreed to skip August meetings and to move the regular monthly meeting to the first Monday at 4:30 p.m. beginning in October, while keeping the September meeting on the first Tuesday because of Labor Day.
The board adjourned after routine motions and thanks.
