At its meeting the Waterloo Local Board approved several new business items including service agreements and personnel actions.
The board approved a purchase/service agreement with Junior Achievement and authorized space use for a privately run Healthy Kids before‑ and after‑school program that the superintendent said will use district facilities and be parent‑funded; the superintendent noted the vendor expects to operate broadly from early morning until about 5–6 p.m. (exact hours not finalized).
On personnel matters the board accepted the retirement of teacher Beth Moon, effective May 30 after 17 years of service, and accepted the resignation or transfer of cafeteria assistant Jasmine Watts; the retirement motion carried with an abstention noted. The board also approved an after‑school tutoring contract for Wendy Nipper ($30 an hour, October through March) to support students who did not pass grade‑level tests, approved a set of limited contracts and substitute hires, and authorized a volunteer supplemental contract for coach John Herczyk.
Financially, the treasurer reported a year‑to‑date surplus in the general/emergency fund and a small year‑to‑date deficit across all funds driven in part by a final bond payment; the board approved the November financials. The board also authorized transfers for participation funds, approved appropriation modifications and signed a property‑damage release related to summer work by a vendor (Vasco) that damaged power lines and resulted in repair estimates that increased from an initial ~$63,000 to about $75,000.
All motions described above were moved, seconded and approved by roll call where noted.
