Assembly accepts conveyance of Pappke's Landing; manager says land transfer enables grant pursuit

The Petersburg Borough Assembly voted unanimously on July 6 to accept conveyance of tidal and submerged lands and associated dock infrastructure at Pappke's Landing (ADL 109287).
Resolution 20-26-18 authorizes the borough manager to execute documents necessary to complete the conveyance. Borough staff explained that taking the tide and dock conveyance clears a sequencing obstacle: the Department of Natural Resources will not transfer tide and submerged lands until the borough owns the dock, while the Department of Transportation will not transfer the dock until tide lands transfer. Accepting the conveyance removes that block and lets the borough seek grants to repair and improve the facility.
Manager's office noted the uplands application remains outstanding and could take another year; accepting the tide and submerged-land conveyance is the first practical step to make the site eligible for grant funding and to pursue improvements and expanded parking.
Outcome: The resolution passed by roll call, 5-0. Staff said the conveyance will allow the borough to pursue grant opportunities to repair the dock and improve public access.
