At its meeting, the Waterloo Local school board approved a number of superintendent recommendations and routine items, including personnel step adjustments, contracts, memoranda of understanding and a PTO donation.
Speaker 1 introduced a superintendent recommendation to grant a step adjustment to Anita Michael (SLP) to Step 14, effective Aug. 22, 2025; the board moved, seconded and approved the adjustment by roll call. The board also accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Hayes from Destination Imagination for the 2025–26 school year after a motion and roll-call vote.
The board approved substitute contracts and several supplemental athletic contracts for the 2025–26 school year contingent on state eligibility and compliance. Speaker 1 presented multiple MOUs and agreements (including services from a Southern County provider and an amendment related to safety work); the board approved the listed MOUs after motions and roll-call votes; one board member abstained on an item because of a spouse’s union affiliation.
Speaker 3 and Speaker 1 moved and the board voted to accept a $1,500 donation from the Waterloo PTO to help fund the 6th-grade field trip to Camp Pitch (Oct. 27–29). The board also approved routine minutes, September financials and listed contracts; during the contract discussion, a board member noted state unfunded-mandate pressures and recorded one abstention where a member disclosed a personal connection to a vendor.
All motions referenced in the meeting were approved as recorded in the minutes with the roll-call outcomes announced by the chair.
