The Waterloo Local Board of Education completed its annual organizational actions on Jan. 9, electing officers for 2025, approving routine administrative authorizations and naming its legislative liaison and conference delegates.
The presiding officer opened nominations and the board voted to continue the current president in that role and to elect Patty as vice president after nominations were closed and a roll-call vote was held. The board also approved a service fund to cover board-incurred expenses and a set of administrative authorizations that allow the treasurer and superintendent to accept donations, request tax advances, invest funds, pay bills and sign contracts as official agents of the board.
Terry Zachariah was nominated and approved as the legislative liaison for 2025. The board also appointed an OSBA delegate and an alternate to attend the Ohio School Boards Association capital conference in November 2025 and discussed registration timing and conference logistics.
The board established its regular meeting schedule for 2025 as the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.
"Thank you guys and ladies for letting me continue on as president," the presiding officer said, asking members to keep lines of communication open. The board moved promptly through roll-call votes for the listed motions.
