Robbins mayor asks residents for help to secure $7 million in Springfield; announces ARP and resurfacing funds

Mayor Darren E. Bryant told the Village of Robbins Board of Trustees on Aug. 10 that the village has about $7 million pending in Springfield and asked the community to help advocate for those funds. He said approximately $5 million of that total is earmarked for capital improvements.
Bryant also said the village was awarded $739,000 from the American Rescue Plan; that funding will be distributed in two installments, with the first expected the following month. He said the village has been approved for $1.4 million for street resurfacing for the next year and urged the board to set priorities for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and other capital projects.
The mayor announced a new Robbins bulletin to share village news and his vision for the community, and he invited seniors to join a senior advisory committee that will meet monthly. He publicly thanked Kyiesha Hill for work on the Robbins Community Garden and encouraged residents to visit the garden and volunteer.
The minutes also list upcoming community events and services: a Robbins United back-to-school backpack giveaway on Aug. 15, a constituent services pop-up office hosted by Congressman Bobby L. Rush on Aug. 19, and a commemoration of the village’s ten Tuskegee Airmen on Aug. 28 at the Robbins Metra station.
