Sheriff's deputy reports October incidents; town asks for continued patrols during Winter Market

Deputy Andrew Kyle of the Garrett County Sheriff's Department summarized Friendsville's October incident report at the Nov. 18 town council meeting, saying there were nine total occurrences: six community patrols, one animal complaint, one process served and one sex offense currently under investigation.
Deputy Kyle said that at a recent mobile market an off-leash dog caused problems for participants and that youths have been entering the boarded "Old Mill" building, which is private property. He advised residents concerned about similar incidents to call 301-334-1911 to report them. "These concerns should be reported by calling 301-334-1911," he said.
Mayor Spencer R. Schlosnagle emphasized the importance of continued patrols at the Community Park after the deputy's report. Jennifer Uphold, representing the Greater Friendsville Business Association, asked the council for additional law enforcement presence at the Winter Market scheduled for Dec. 13; the mayor and staff said organizers must obtain required permits and insurance and coordinate with maintenance and county officials.
Deputy Kyle also flagged that youth access to the boarded Old Mill building is a concern for property owners and public safety; Mayor Schlosnagle said he would contact the owners.
