Friendsville council approves routine agenda items, supports school events and sends letter to governor

The Friendsville Mayor and Town Council took several routine and community-support actions at its Sept. 23, 2024 meeting, voting unanimously on a series of motions.
The council approved its Sept. 23 agenda (Motion #1) and accepted corrected minutes for Sept. 9, 2024 (Motion #2). It then approved support for the Friendsville Elementary Community School Walking Bus (Motion #3) and for the Friendsville Elementary PTO 'Turkey Trot' fundraiser scheduled Nov. 16, 2024 (Motion #4). The council authorized the use of remaining LPPI grant funds of $4,920.10 plus accommodation funds to purchase a refrigerator and freezer for the concession stand (Motion #5). Finally, the council approved sending a letter of support to Governor Wes Moore on behalf of the Town of Oakland asking for expansion funding for the Oakland Community Center (Motion #6). Each motion recorded a 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 0 abstentions.
