Kenneth Hinebaugh, representing the Friendsville Veterans Memorial committee, updated the council on construction plans and volunteer needs on July 15. He said contractor collaboration is underway to build the memorial’s centerpiece, the concrete slab is being prepared, and the plan includes installation of 13 flagpoles; the committee is also exploring lighting and fencing options.
After discussion the council voted unanimously to not place a fence around the memorial (Motion #3). The motion was moved by Council member Sheryl MacLane and seconded by Council member Edward Kelley and carried 6–0. The committee continues to seek volunteer members to assist with construction and finishing details.
Council members asked about additional lighting and the type of fencing if future needs arise; no funding or additional contracts were approved at the July 15 meeting. Work on the slab and flagpole installation was described as the current immediate priority.
