Cabot School Board approves updates to personnel and curriculum policies and student handbook

At its April 21, 2026 meeting, the Cabot School Board voted 6‑0 to approve proposed updates to board policy Sections 3 (Licensed Personnel), 5 (Curriculum and Instruction) and 8 (Classified Personnel), and to adopt recommended changes to Section 4 of the 2026–2027 Student Handbook.
Superintendent Michael Byrd presented the proposed policy updates and the handbook revisions during the meeting. Board member Sarah Owen moved to adopt the policy changes; Board member Sally Beebe seconded the motion. The board recorded a unanimous 6‑0 vote in favor.
Board documents show there were no recommended updates to Sections 1, 2, 6, 7 and 9 for 2026–2027. The board did not debate individual policy language at length during the meeting; the matter was presented as recommended updates, and the board approved the package as presented.
The approvals are effective for the 2026–2027 school year and were entered into the official board minutes. The board also approved a separate set of administrative and personnel items in the same meeting, including an amended employee disclosure and multiple personnel recommendations.
