Cutler Rosie district outlines plan to buy former church for boardroom and training center

Cutler Rosie (transcript: "Cutler Rosie") Unified School District staff told the Planning Commission on July 8 that the district is pursuing purchase of a vacant church property to use as a boardroom and a professional learning center for staff.
Suncy Temachter, assistant superintendent of administrative services, said the property has been vacant for some time and the district wants to convert the main church space into a boardroom and keep pews for seating, while converting an ancillary building into a professional learning space. "We will not house students there...it would be in the evening with their parents," Temachter said, describing student appearances as occasional recognition events rather than instruction.
Temachter said expanding space is necessary because the district administrative team has grown from about 15 to 35 staff and they have outgrown their current boardroom. The presentation was informational; no action was required from the commission.
