Spring Valley board approves new MS/HS course offerings and 2026-27 school calendar

The School Board of the School District of Spring Valley approved new middle/high school course offerings for the 2026–27 school year and adopted the 2026–27 school calendar at its Feb. 26, 2026, regular meeting.
Middle/high school Principal Chris Segerstrom presented the proposed course list and answered questions from board members; Monica Shafer moved to approve the courses and Stacy Schultz seconded the motion, which carried. The Board later approved the 2026–27 school calendar on a motion by Stacy Schultz, seconded by Jennelle Wolf.
Superintendent John Groh and Principal Nicole Lamb presented enrollment projections and staffing considerations for 2026–27, noting the information will inform hiring and class assignments for the coming year. Groh also briefed the board on preparations to update the district’s long-term strategic plan and invited the community to the Strategic Plan Community Conversation scheduled April 16–18, 2026.
