Engineer: county bridge and ramp work months behind schedule; south-side ramp closure likely around Labor Day

The Valley View village engineer told the council on July 7 that multiple county-managed transportation projects are delayed and that residents should expect a planned closure of the south-side bridge ramp around Labor Day.
"The next big impact to the village would be the closing of the ramp on the south side of the bridge, which will take place probably sometime around Labor Day," the engineer said, noting that FirstEnergy relocations are almost done but overall schedules have slipped by months. The engineer said the contractor is expected to publish an updated schedule within about 10 days.
He added that the contract allows roughly 90 days for the first closure phase and that there will be two subsequent closures to drive piles and set steel. Council members asked about bus routing and timing; the engineer said officials will coordinate with schools and post notices for residents in advance.
The engineer also reported that Rockside work is progressing ahead of schedule while other projects remain delayed and that the team will issue traffic and closure notices as firm dates become available.
