Resident opposes 'anti-density' language in state affordable housing letter

During the public-comment portion of the Glen Echo Town Council meeting on Oct. 16, resident Aaron Hirsch urged the council to oppose what he described as "anti-density" language in a state delegation letter about the Affordable Housing Strategies Initiative.
"I oppose the idea of ‘anti-density,’" Hirsch said during his remarks to the council. Mayor Dia Costello responded in the meeting minutes that "nothing has been decided at this time and more information will be forthcoming." The minutes do not record additional public comments or any formal council action on the state delegation letter at this meeting.
The council did not vote or direct staff to take a position on the letter during the session; the mayor indicated further information will be provided before any decision is made.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 20, when the council may take up additional items or follow-ups that arise from this session.
