Mayor Dia Costello and councilmembers received the town operations report at the Sept. 9 Glen Echo meeting, which covered a range of service and scheduling updates.
The record notes the summer picnic had strong turnout and that website updates — assisted by a summer intern — now include an option to pay town rental and fee charges online through Clover. Vegetation cutback work by Level Green was completed, leaf collection and street cleaning are scheduled for October, and snow removal contracts will be reviewed. The minutes state an elevator is expected to be installed at Town Hall at the end of October and that two proposals have been received in response to a roads RFP.
The report also listed an early-October flu vaccine clinic, resident projects including tree removal on Vassar Circle and a stoop repair on Bryn Mawr, and a town yard sale set for Oct. 5 with a rain date of Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Council meeting dates for October and November will be set via a Doodle poll because the regular dates fall on state or federal holidays.
On historic and capital matters Mayor Costello said the Clara Barton House is still under historical review and that Cristine Smith is the acting superintendent for the National Park Service; the minutes note construction related to that review is expected to begin in October 2025. The Trestle Bridge remains in historic review as well.
In the financial update the council was given a summary of August expenditures; Councilmember Dan Spealman asked that the full financial report be emailed to council members. An audit update was noted but not detailed in the draft minutes.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Councilmember Dawn Tanner, seconded by Councilmember Julia Wilson; the motion passed 3–0 and the meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
