Board approves several contracts, renewals and governance items in June meeting

Food services and vendor renewals: The board approved an extension (amendment number one) to the Crystal Creamery dairy products contract for up to $300,000 paid from the cafeteria fund (Fund 13).
Special‑education and related services: In separate votes the board renewed contracts to ensure services required under IDEA and individual education plans, including speech and occupational therapy (Developmental Therapy Services, ~13.3 FTE speech and 3.0 FTE OT equivalencies supporting roughly 800 students), behavioral services (registered behavior technicians and BCBAs through multiple providers), physical therapy (Jabber Gym LLC), and EverDriven transport services for students placed outside the district. Staff noted contracts include termination and adjustment provisions to scale services if district staffing changes permit.
Personnel and governance items: Trustees approved the annual Declaration of Need for certificated teachers (a state filing that enables temporary credentialing when necessary). The board approved a job description for a principal for the Alice Norman early education center; staff emphasized the action approved the description only and did not allocate FTE or funding. Trustees debated alternatives (shared admin, interim assignments, partnership with Yolo County Office of Education) and asked staff to return with costed options if the board later approves FTE.
Elections and trustee compensation: The board approved a resolution to order the governing‑board member election for trustee areas 1 and 5 to be held as part of the November general election; trustees selected a runoff (rather than deciding by lot) if a tie occurred, and retained candidate‑paid statements at 200 words. The board also voted on trustee compensation for a missed meeting per bylaw 9250 for a specified absence and approved the item by voice vote.
